Nicol Francis Hendruk *1998
I was born in the US to Czech parents and spent my childhood alternating between the two countries.
I have been drawing passionately ever since I was able to hold a pencil. Since then, it has been one of my favorite ways to express myself. I never studied art formally; I draw intuitively, without reference objects or images. When drawing, I let my mind and hand do whatever they are urging me to do. Each new line leads me to another, and what appears on paper is often a surprise, even to me.
The human body has always fascinated me with its natural beauty, which is why I like to draw figures in motion and from different points of view. People can express many things in so many different ways, and that is what captivates me. I enjoy depicting vulnerability, openness, nudity, and intimacy. In general, the recurring theme in my work is the portrayal of people, especially women, because that is who I am, what I know, and what continues to inspire me.
